The Genome Analysis Centre receives strategic funding from the BBSRC
The Sequencing Informatics Team is responsible for the analysis and management of primary sequencing data, working alongside both the wet lab and sibling bioinformatics groups to be the first port of call for all aspects of data generated by the sequencing machines, including related metadata.
The Sequencing Informatics Team comprises three central areas of expertise; the Core Bioinformatics group, Sequence Analysis and Assembly group and QC and Primary Analysis team.
The members of the Core Bioinformatics group are involved in development of MISO, the LIMS system used at TGAC, the TGAC Browser, a novel genome feature visualisation platform, and research into bespoke visualisation and metadata management interfaces,. The team also provide and assist with the many aspects of data and productivity management required by the wet lab and bioinformatics teams alike.
The members of the Sequence Analysis and Assembly group are involved in the primary and secondary analysis of all raw sequence data, including quality control, contamination screening, assemblies, alignments and automated pipelines.
