National Capability

Introduction to the NCGTGAC operates one of the largest Research Council funded high-throughput sequencing and data analysis platform for life sciences. The DNA sequencing platform is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for sequence generation from a wide range of biological materials. These facilities provide the UK bioscience community with a unique national resource and capability to advance plant, animal and microbial science. The NCG is focused on the production of data resources in the form of sequenced genomes, re-sequenced populations, and functional profiles of genes and regulatory elements.

The NCG includes the running of a genomics laboratory including operating the latest next generation sequencing technologies, and high-performance computing data centre. The NCG ensures that the genomics laboratory is staffed with experienced scientists and laboratory technicians trained in the latest protocols that are able to respond to the UK needs for sequencing facilities.

Platforms You can find out more below about our next-generation sequencing and high performance computing platforms, all of which are state of the art and supported by teams of highly skilled staff.

Access the National Capability

You can access the NCG via a number of ways. TGAC will be offering a NCG pilot project scheme.  If you are would like to find out more, please follow the link below.

If you are applying for a BBSRC grant includes next generation sequencing the NCG can provide a Technical Assessment form that you will need to include with your submission to BBSRC.

TGAC can also provide contract sequencing and works with international collaborator, on joint research projects. If you would like to find out more please use the link below to contact our project management team to discuss your requirements.
